KENNEDY SENIOR CENTER FACTS
Where is the Kennedy Senior Center located?
The Kennedy Senior Center / Natick Council On Aging is at 117 East Central St (Rte 135) in Natick. We are located about 1 mile east of the intersection of Rt 27 and 135 in Natick. The Kennedy Senior Center shares the building with the Natick District Court, follow the driveway toward the rear of the building and look for a maroon awning with Kennedy Senior Center on it.
What hours are you open?
Our Center is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. We are closed all major holidays. If the Natick Schools are closed due to inclement weather we will most likely be closed, please call the center.
What programs and activities do you have?
The Kennedy Senior Center offers a large selection of programs and activities, including dance, exercise, support groups, games, movies, arts & crafts, computers, wellness lectures, pharmacy talks, discussion groups, and much, much more. For a complete listing of monthly programs please read our newsletter, the Natick Sentinel. This can be viewed on-line by selecting the Sentinel link on our main web page.
I am only 50 (or 40 or 35), can I attend your programs?
Anyone is welcome to attend any of our programs. The only program that has an age restriction is Bingo, which is controlled by the State Lottery Commission which requires that a player be a current member of the FRIENDS and be at least 60 years old.
What is the difference between the Natick COA and The Kennedy Senior Center?
What is the group called Friends of the Natick Seniors, Inc?
The Friends are an all volunteer fundraising organization who hold several functions each month with the sole purpose of helping to fund many of our programs which otherwise might not be able to continue. They raise money through trips, craft fairs, earlybird dinners, yard sales, raffles, bake sales, antique appraisal shows, and many other events throughout the year. They also raise funds through membership to the Friends. For just $5.00 per year your membership helps to fund programs, purchase needed equipment and other supplies. The Friends are also responsible for the printing and mailing of the Natick Sentinel.
How do I get a copy of the Natick Sentinel delivered to my house?
The Natick Sentinel is published 11 times each year. A copy is sent to each household that has a resident who is 60 years or older according to the Natick census. If you are a Natick resident who for some reason does not currently receive the Natick Sentinel, simply call the Kennedy Senior Center and ask to be added to the list. If you are not a Natick resident and would like to receive a Sentinel, you need to become a member of the Friends (see above) and a copy will be sent to your home. For more information, please call Deborah at the Senior Center, 1-508-647-6540.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Do only retired people volunteer?
Not at all. We have no typical volunteer. Our volunteers range from middle and high school students, to stay at home moms, to working people and retirees. We always need good volunteers.
What kind of volunteer positions are available?
We have many types of volunteer opportunities.
Some of the things that our volunteers do are based at the Kennedy Senior Center. Those things might include: helping in the kitchen, making phone calls, writing for the newsletter, serving on committees, or helping with food distribution for the SERVE program.
Ther are also many ways to help in the community. Those things might include delivering meals for Meals-on-Wheels, Friendly Visiting, Medical Transportation, Chores or Respite Care.
What if I've never volunteered before?
All of our volunteers have the benefit of Volunteer Orientation and Training sessions. These sessions give you a chance to meet some of our staff, learn about the Natick Council On Aging, see the Kennedy Senior Center, ask questions, meet other new volunteers, and find out about our different volunteer opportunities.
I don't have a lot of spare time. Can I still volunteer?
We generally request a two hour per week commitment of time from our volunteers. We can, however be flexible about this based on on the availability of the volunteer and the nature of our needs.
