The Engineering Division provides support services to other divisions such as Water/Sewer, Highway, and LF & NR. This division reviews subdivision plans for the Planning Board and development and aquifer protection plans for the Zoning Board of Appeal. Once these projects are approved, the division periodically inspects the developer’s work to assure compliance with the approved plans. In conjunction with these inspections, the division periodically makes reports to the Planning Board and recommends bond amounts that serve to protect the town should a developer not complete his obligations. The engineers are also responsible for keeping the Assessor’s Maps up to date. The division prepares easement plans for town utility easements and prepares construction plans,
specifications and documents for town construction projects. The division also keeps up to date the town’s utility plans and do field surveys to determine locations of all water and sewer services for every building in town. The division also reviews street opening permits that are requested by certificates of occupancy and advise the Building Department on such matters, and respond to inquiries by the public. The division utilizes computers, laptops, surveying equipment, data collectors, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD), plotters, digitizers and various software to perform it’s daily functions. This division consists of five employees.
