Call to Order: 4:00 p.m.
- The Board approved the minutes of the meeting of April 13, 2010.
- The Board moved and approved the Director’s renewing for twelve months two CDs that are coming due at the Middlesex Bank. One is coming due on May 24th and the second is coming due on August 9th the first was originated in 2000 and has a current value of $21,355.84. The second was originated in 1997 and has a current value of $27,595. 08
- Broadwater Capital Management alerted the Trustees to the fact that the firm’s office will be located at 15 Court Square, Suite 640 in Boston, Massachusetts 02108 effective April 29, 2010.
- Director’s Report:
FY2011 Budget - $61,082 has been restored to our budget. These funds will go toward staff salaries and overtime. On May 6 the Finance Committee voted 13-0 to approve this change to our budget. No staff was laid off.
Pegasus Taping - This went well. The show is playing frequently on Pegasus.
2010 Authors Series - Michael Tougias was here on Sunday, May 9. As it was Mothers’ Day, turnout was light.
Natick Women in Uniform 1914-2010 – display is up. Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 4 p.m.
State Aid – Our final payment for State Aid has been received in the amount of $19,213.32. 5% of this goes to the Bacon Free Library.
Stained Glass Windows – Two new windows were installed on Sunday – the Cat in the Hat, dedicated to Jay Ball’s son, and Angelina Ballerina. Funds still remain for some additional windows. Perhaps we would like to see one window showing a child or book character with a disability (using a cane or wheelchair, or reading Braille) and also a window dedicated to our bookmobile.
Bookmobile – We visit 16 places each month and the bookmobile continues to be well received. Still working on a schedule to include Natick Labs.
Friends of the Library – Staff luncheon this Thursday from 11:30 – 1 p.m. Many thanks to the Friends for their generous support.
- Ms. Nardi described the Women Veterans Celebration. (Note: On May 15th, the Library hosted a Military Appreciation Program with emphasis on Women in the Military. The program was highlighted by the presence of several female veterans and active duty female military. Many of the women had served in World War II. The guest speaker was the female commander of the military detachment at the Soldiers Command here in Natick.)
- Ms. Donovan, Trustee, updated the Board and the administration on the preparatory work establishing the Steering Committee that will assume responsibility for the creation of the next Strategic Plan. Mr. Jay Vogt, Consultant, will assist the group in this work.
- In the first ten months of this fiscal year a total of 450,592 print, non-print and miscellaneous materials were circulated from this library.
