Employee of the Month
Purpose
To announce the selection of Officer James O’Shaughnessy as the Natick Police Department Employee of the Month for June, 2009.

Citation

Award

Community policing is an important component of providing effective police services. Although limited in experience, Officer O’Shaughnessy has consistently demonstrated a willingness to extend himself for the benefit of those with whom he comes in contact.  I recently received a letter addressed simply to the “Natick Police Department” and found a letter and a picture of Officer O’Shaughnessy with two young children. The children’s grandmother was babysitting and had taken the children to the Natick Collection. When leaving, the grandmother and the children arrived at their car and found it had two flat tires. She called the Natick Police who dispatched Officer O’Shaughnessy to assist. The children saw that their grandmother was upset and consequently were upset themselves. The woman was apologetic for having called the police, but said that both the Dispatcher Glickman, who answered the call, and Officer O’Shaughnessy who responded provided welcome comfort to her when she needed reassurance. The writer went on to say, “With Officer O’Shaughnessy’s calming, assuring, and caring voice, my two little ones – as well as myself – saw the stress of the past hour instantly melt away….We thank Officer O’Shaughnessy from the bottom of our hearts.”  _______________________________________________________________

Dispatcher Glickman is hereby recognized for his excellence in dispatcher duty.  Officer O’Shaughnessy is hereby commended for his efforts and named the Natick Police Department’s June 2009 Employee of the Month.     _______________________________________________________________
