The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is considering a potential multi-use path to connect neighborhoods in West Natick with Route 9 and the future Cochituate Rail Trail. This path would run on the south side of Route 9, past the Springvale water treatment plant, under the future CRT and connect to an existing sidewalk that continues east on Route 9.
The Transportation Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting on March 16, beginning at 6:45 PM at the National Guard Readiness Center at 149 Speen Street to review this plan at a conceptual level, answer questions and take public comment. The Committee may then make a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen to formally request that MassDOT initiate project design.
There is no current timetable for the project, as it is in the early stages. If it moves forward, design and construction is anticipated to be funded by MassDOT, as the project is almost entirely within the layout for Route 9.
